A man was killed late Wednesday in a multi-vehicle traffic accident near Eagle Creek Reservoir.
It happened shortly before 11 p.m. in the 6600 block of W. 56th St., where the driver of a black Mazda was traveling westbound on 56th St. and lost control of his vehicle, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police investigators.
The Mazda was struck on the driver’s side door by an eastbound taxicab. The Mazda driver–who was not wearing a seat belt–was killed instantly, according to police.
A third vehicle rear-ended the taxi.
Police say the passengers in that vehicle were transported to the hospital with various non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor. Investigators continue piecing together additional details about the crash.
A second, unrelated accident happened nearby at the same time at W. 56th St. and Reed Rd. It involved two vehicles–one which apparently fled the scene.
