Abeiku Sagoe vindicates William Addo

Aspiring Actors' Guild president, Abeiku Sagoe, has vindicated Veteran actor William Addo aka Akpatse
It would be recalled that, the veteran actor, William Addo told the media that his inability to raise funds for his glaucoma and cataract surgery was because movie producers have used actors royalties to build big mansions in Kumasi.
Akpatse, was heavily criticized by movie producer Frank Fiifi Gharbin for making such an allegation about movie producers. Gharbin then accused Abeiku Sagoe of being the one responsible for royalties meant for the actors.
To ascertain the truth, Ebenezer Anderson aka Dr.Who, host of 'Hot and Classic Showbiz review' on Accra-based Hot Fm, went up-close with Abeiku Sagoe.
Deliberating on the issue, Abeiku Sagoe debunked Frank Gharbin's allegations and indicated emphatically that, movie producers are the reason why Ghanaian actors are poor.
"What is Frank Gharbin saying? He is only spreading falsehood. It's not true that I have made actors poor. Actually, the movie producers are the reason why actors can't pay their childrens' school fees.
"William Addo has acted throughout his life time but can't boast of a single house. Ask Frank Gharbin the number of houses he and his colleague producers have. They've built big mansions and driving big cars with monies meant for actors.
"So please if William Addo is saying the movie producers have made him poor he is right" Abeiku Sagoe noted passionately.
According to Mr Sagoe, previously, levies were shared among movie producers. But together with the help of late ex-president of the guild, Nii Odoi Mensah, the movie producers have agreed that the 20% levy meant for actors in 2016 would be given to actors.
Abeiku Sagoe, concluded that actors problems pertaining to their royalties or money should be channeled through the movie producers but not him, thus, he will re-brand the Ghana Actors Guild and put in place more measures for an effective welfare system should he be voted president.

I won’t feature on a diss song – Jayso

Record Producer and Rapper, Paul Nuamah Donkor, known as Jayso in showbiz, has revealed he will not feature in a diss song, a type of rap music composed to mock or insult another rapper.

His comment comes after many industry players claimed he had betrayed EL (Elom Adablah) by featuring on Sarkodie’s ‘Bossy’ track which they believe had lyrics that took swipes at EL.

EL and Jayso were once colleagues on the Skillions Record label.

Although Jayso produced the beat for the track ‘Bossy’, he disclosed to Joy News’ MzGee that featuring on a diss song would be contradictory to what he stands for, dismissing the critics.

“I would not jump on a song that has Sark or anybody dissing any other person. It is against my brand, it is against what I do. I can understand if it is the same old subliminal shots that everyone has been taking since rap started.”

The rapper who has worked with big shots locally and internationally including Wyclef Jean, Tuface Idibia, Sway amongst others released ‘Preach’ which many believe was a diss song against Manifest, in the wake of the controversies between Sarkodie and Manifest.

Jayso revealed he is one of the producers on Manifest’s yet to be released album.

KOJO BONSU COMMENTS ON KEJETIA TERMINAL STORES SAGA

Kcee is Nigeria’s worst dressed artiste

He thinks he's a fashion icon. We think his friends are bad people.

Okay, I’ll start by acknowledging that fashion is unique and individual especially in an industry like ours.

It is good to stand out at events with unique fashion styles, but some celebrities overdo it and definitely need stylists to help them with their fashion choices.

Today I’ll talk about Five Star Music act and self-acclaimed ‘fashion icon’, Kcee.

I’ve seen a lot of his dramatic outfits that hurt one’s eyes and brains, and make him look like a joker.
Let’s look at his fashion style from the past and present…

I think Kcee’s number one problem is how to match these colours. In as much as this was a video shoot, I’m pretty sure Kcee must’ve told the stylist ‘Baba it must be this yellow blazer or nothing’.

The Floral vegetable sauce pants

I call that vegetable sauce cause it’s all flowered up. Now these looks don’t reflect his entire personality, but it shows how much of a kid is still in him. Because like seriously – who wears a ‘Spiderman’ tee on floral pants?

Now I wouldn’t have called this one a bad outing, if only he pulled it off well. Nah, he didn’t.

He must have said to Flavour. ‘Nwanne lets do this thing, the more colourful you are, the more people notice you.’

The viral ‘fashion icon’ pose/photo

Here he donned a pink-and-black print shirt, pink pants, a black blazer and leopard print shoes… Seriously? This is what Nigerian’s will say ‘The guy just dey fall him fans’ hands’.

In an exclusive interview with NET he said ‘If you come to my wardrobe you’ll know what I’m saying, I’m a fashion icon and I can brag about it. Sometimes there are some things you can’t brag about, but for me I can brag about fashion, I don’t have a problem with my fashion sense’

We agree!

His belt game

Oh Oh… did I mention he has a thing for fancy belts? Kcee is the king of fancy belts, like he can tuck his Tees in his knickers just so you can see his belt.

For real guys, Can you explain this one?

Who actually wore it better?

But in recent times, Kcee has upgraded his dress sense. I admit I have noticed his improvement, although one will need to confirm if the changes are here to stay.

Stop comparing artistes – Kiki Banson

Experienced Ghanaian artist manager and boss of EKB Records, Kiki Banson has described as “unnecessary”, attempts to compare music talents.

Reacting to the recent lyrical feud between competing artists which has generated much talk across the country especially on several media platforms, the former manager of Becca explained that every artist’s talent is unique.

“For me, I find it unnecessary [to compare artists]. I always say that there aren’t two artists in this world that are the same. You cannot compare artistes,” Mr. Banson stated on GH One TV review show ‘PUNDITS’ hosted by George Quaye.

“So as soon as you start comparing artists, for me, I start questioning your understanding of even what you’re doing,” he added.

Kiki Banson went on: “You cannot be better than the next art because it is a different game altogether. Talents are not the same. You cannot compare yourself to another if you understand what art is all about.”

Nollywood directors declare war against soft-porn movies & actors

Worried by the alarming rate at which soft-porn movies are uploaded indiscriminately on Youtube and other social media platforms in recent times, creating a serious negative impression about the country’s movie industry, some aggrieved directors have come together to stem the tide.

To arrest the ugly trend, the directors under the aegis of Nollywood Crusader Directors in a statement signed by actor Charles Awurum and founder of Igbo film forum, comrade Eze Harris Chuma, threatened henceforth to slam a ban on actors and actresses who feature in any sex Internet movie.

“We have also agreed not to employ the services of the actors in any movie they are directing,” they said. They have also called on parents to always monitor the Internet to see what their wards are doing in the name of acting.

“This is everybody’s fight. Many innocent young girls are being tricked or forced into accepting to act the indecent roles and some because of their innocence, childish brain, and hunger to become movie stars, willingly accept the roles, and even pay for it with their bodies or money. Those that have not gotten to the age of reasoning are the ones we cry for. Those above 20 years can go ahead and act their blue movies, if that is what they have agreed with their parents. They cannot be used by any concerned Nollywood Crusader directors.

“This is not in our culture, and it is not our tradition. Parents should be careful of what their children are using there phones to watch. At 4 years, most of our children have started to operate phones very well, even more than some adults. We are talking today, for the sake of tomorrow. This young actors will be mothers and fathers tomorrow, they will sit and watch the shameful acts of their parents, years past,” the statement reads. According to Eze Chuma, the group’s task force will be working with the Nigeria Police to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and brought to book.

“ Any actor or actress caught in the act will be isolated and punished accordingly,” Chuma warned.

I won't compose song for any political party - Okyeame Kwame

Musician Okyeame Kwame born Kwame Nsiah Appau has revealed that he will never remix or make a song to promote a particular political party in the country.

The ‘rap dacta’ admits that there is nothing wrong with musicians making songs to promote the agenda of political parties; he believes Ghana is not rife for this.

According to him, politics in Ghana borders on tribal and sentimental grounds and therefore a musician risk tainting his career.

He added that to an extent an artiste risk losing a sizeable number of his or her fan base which cuts across various tribal and ethnic groups.

Speaking to the media, the versatile musician advised ‘until people begin to be objective and detach sentiments from politics it is not advisable to make a song for a political party’

He further revealed that he being a ‘celebrated artiste’ will not accept any amount of money to make music for any party, saying he believes his fans must be united in diversity.

‘‘So the musician’s job is to produce music, using the current trends and produce content that people can use so that they can pay him, so if politicians want to use a musician as a conduit to reach a lot of people through the music I don’t think there is anything wrong with it.

When we come to Ghana, this is my personal thought, I don’t believe that in Ghana, a popular musician should do that, but its personal, because politics in Ghana borders on emotional, tribal lines, until we get to a point where people can vote for political parties because they have read their manifestoes, through their families, offices, jobs, things that they have done already in the public sector, shows or proves that they can lead a nation, and we go and vote for them, until we get to that point I don’t think a musician should do, because what is happening is that because it’s not on logical lines, but on sentimental grounds, if you are an artiste and you do a song for one party, then it’s like alienating 50% of your market , so you must decide if they are paying you well enough, that is why am saying I will not do it even for one zillion dollars, I need my fans to be united in diversity,’ he explained.

Taylor Swift denies 'approving' Kanye West's track Famous

Taylor Swift is accusing Kanye West and Kim Kardashian of "character assassination".
It is after Kim posted a series of videos appearing to show her husband talking to the singer about his track Famous.
They claim the footage proves Taylor had approved a controversial lyric about her.
However, the 26-year-old's released a statement saying, "you cannot approve a song you haven't heard".
This is the latest development in a high profile three-way feud involving the world's biggest popstar, rapper and reality star.
Kim had previously claimed she had proof that a "phone convo" about the song had happened, because her husband was filming a documentary at the time.
Now she has uploaded a series of videos to Instagram where Kanye appears to be talking to Taylor via a mobile phone's loudspeaker.
In one of the clips, Taylor says: "I'm really glad that you had the respect to call me and tell me about your concerns about the song."
She also says that she'll talk to him about the song on the Grammy's red carpet.
She says: "If people ask me about it, I think it would be great for me to be like, 'look, he called me and told me about the line before it came out'. Like, 'joke's on you guys, we're fine'.
"You guys want to call this a feud, you want to call this throwing shade, but right after the song comes out, I'm going to be on a Grammy red carpet and they're going ask me about it, and I'm going to be like, 'he called me'."
In another clip, Taylor also appears to reference the moment when Kanye interrupted Taylor's acceptance speech at the VMAs.
"You have got to tell the story the way that it happened to you and the way you experienced it," she says.
"Like you honestly didn't know who I was before that.
"It doesn't matter if I sold seven million of that album before you did that, which is what happened. You didn't know who I was before that."However, less than an hour after the videos were made public, Taylor released a statement denying she had approved Famous, claiming Kanye "promised to play the song for me, but he never did."

Itz Tiffany details why people think she’s a lesbian

Multiple hitmaker, Itz Tifanny on eTV’s The Late Nite Celebrity Show has revealed some people assume she is a lesbian because of her fashion choices.

Talking about the love life, the Spanner singer made it known she wasn’t single.

“I’m not single. That’s all I can say for now. I am not searching. That’s the end of the story. First of all, it’s really hard to keep your private life as an artist from the media. People are out there to get you, some are out there to know what you doing because they want to know everything but letting the unknown be known it’s up to you.

“But it’s much better for me when the person’s name or face is not out there like that. It works much better because people talk. When we are home, we are at home and when we are stepping out then we are out there as long as I’m seeing a guy and not a woman.”

Answering Eddy Blay follow up question on whether people ever questioned her preference, she said;

“I have heard rumors that suggest I swing to the other side. When they see my sneakers they think I play the other team but there’s a man in my life. I’m actually dating your older brother. I was in your house yesterday.”

Content is the last guarantor for a hit song – Asenke

Ghanaian Hiplife artiste, Asenke says, the message a song carries is the last contributing factor that can guarantee the success of that song.

The musician in an exclusive interview with Flex Newspaper outlined some major elements a song should possess in order to make it go viral on every music promotion platform.

”For a song to be a hit, it must first have a groovy beat, a catchy hook, and a good chorus before the storyline. The content of the song is actually the last guarantor for a hit song. People would love to jam to a song before paying attention to the message it carries.”, the Cease Fire artiste intimated.

This, he said, is the main reason why he usually lays much emphasis on the beats, hooks and chorus of his songs.

Asenke is currently promoting his new street banger titled Wedding. Produced by Appietus, Wedding is a very danceable song which featured the Susuka hit maker, Kofi Kinaata.

”My Wedding song was inspired by how women pressurize their men to marry them, only to ask for a divorce after a short while. Ladies of today want extravagant marriage ceremonies regardless of the financial strength of their fiancés. I’m pleading with women to have patience with their men. The song is in favor of the guys, but surprisingly, the ladies are really loving it as well.”, Asenke disclosed.

Asenke has been in Ghana’s music industry for quite a while and can boast of sensational songs like Money ft. Afriyie, Move It ft. Luther and Don Itchy, Famame ft. Wutah, Fear Delegates, Birthday Special, amongst others.

Barima Sidney sets up Mutashi movement

Controversial hiplife artiste, Barima Sidney has in an exclusive interview with Flex Newspaper revealed the creation of his political movement called Mutashi ahead of the 2016 General Election.

He has explained that Mutashi is a term in the Hausa language which means ”Lets Arise ‘ and it is a political movement comprising of Ghanaian youth. Created in 2016, the movement seeks to champion political awareness among the youth, encourage them to seek accountability from political leaders and actively participate in the political space. Through music recordings, social media and rallies, Mutashi advocates for the youth to embrace a new type of thinking that will ensure social change in Ghana” , Barima Sidney intimated.

When asked what motivated him to form The Mutashi Movement, this is what Barima Sidney had to say:

”I got the motivation from our fellow youth in Mozambique who stood against the price hikes of fuel, water and bread which led to a series of street demonstrations which caused the government to revise its notes in September 2011. In Tunisia, the youth stood against corruption, unemployment and the lack of freedom of speech in early 2011 through a lot of street riots and finally some of these things were resolved. Also in June 2011, the youth of Senegal rallied around the movement Y’en amarre, meaning ”Enough is enough ” to abolish a constitutional amendment which would have seen Abdoulai Wade contest for a third term in office”

According to Barima Sidney, the Mutashi Movement has members from all walks of life adding that he is not really concerned the number of members but rather the quality of people.

As at now, even though the movement is yet to be launched, it has what it terms as “cell units” in the various neighborhoods such as like Nima, Ashaiman, North kaneshie, Fadama, Bubuashie, Chorkor etc and primarily depends on contributions from fellow youths who believe in the vision of the Movement as its source of finance.
