Slick roads, accident lead to road closures on I-94

An accident and icy roads have created severe back-ups Wednesday morning in the area of Interstate-94, just east of Interstate-75.
The first is an accident on the eastbound side of Interstate-94 just east of Van Dyke Avenue that involves a school bus, a semi truck and an SUV. Drivers are being routed off at the Van Dyke exit.
Michigan State Police tells us the semi driver sustained some minor injuries, but no others have been reported. We're also told the semi truck and the SUV hit each other, causing the SUV to spin out land near the school bus. The school bus and the semi truck did not come into any contact with each other. No children were onboard at the time of the accident.
SkyFOX is over the accident scene and the video shows that other vehicles may have also been involved.
Drivers were also being routed off on the westbound side of I-94 at Mount Elliot for several hours due to ice build-up. That stretch of I-94 was reopened around 8:30 a.m. Gratiot Avenue is also severely congested as many were trying to get around the closure and may be backed up all the way to 8 Mile Road.
Other accidents have also been reported in the metro area. You can get a check of the traffic for your commute with our live traffic map here. Also, tune in to FOX 2 News on the 2s for the latest check of weather and traffic.
